House Sitting in Portugal — FAQ

A homeowner in Portugal lists the dates they'll be away; a traveller stays in the home for free and looks after it — typically pets, plants, mail and general security. No money changes hands, and FreeCouchSurf charges neither side anything.

The House Sitting community in Portugal is just getting started. Joining is free, and the first listings in Portugal get the most attention from travellers. You can also check the main Portugal page for couchsurfing hosts in the meantime.

Usually not — house sitting is an exchange: free accommodation in Portugal in return for the responsibilities you agree on in advance. Discuss expectations (pet routines, plant care, visitors policy) in chat before confirming.

Create a free profile, set your offer type to house sitting, and describe your experience with pets and homes. Reviews from previous stays and a verified badge make homeowners in Portugal far more likely to choose you.
